Global news this week has been fixated on the missing Titan submersible, with rescue teams racing against time to find a vessel containing five people that has gone missing during a tourist dive to the wreck of the Titanic. It is a story that in some ways is made for 24-hour rolling news coverage, with the fatalistic ticking of the clock on the craft’s oxygen underpinning constant updates that all amount to the same thing: They haven’t found it yet.

As someone who used to watch the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon before school every morning, I was delighted to see the first animated short for Baldur’s Gate 3, which aired as part of the PC Gaming Show 2023 back in June. Now it’s got a sequel of sorts. Mashed, the premiere source of videogame parody cartoons, has made a new video starring the intrepid heroes of Baldur’s Gate 3.

The latest adventure of the Balduran Buddies sees Karlach, Astarion, Gale, and Shadowheart leaving the Early Access version of the game behind as they venture into the uncharted land of Launch. The original voice actors return, as does the authoritative narration of Amelia Tyler, who I would pay good money to have narrate my actual D&D campaign.

I don’t know how Terminal Velocity landed on my family’s PC in the mid-’90s, but I know I spent too much time playing it. We didn’t even have the full game, just the shareware version which only included the first chapter, and I’m pretty sure I never actually bothered to reach the end of that chapter. I just liked flying the spaceship around.

An updated version called Terminal Velocity: Boosted Edition released today, and by contemporary standards, that first level I played so much of is barely a videogame: You fly around above an alien planet shooting enemy ships and tanks and buildings, collecting power-up orbs, and sometimes flying through tunnels.
